How to Remove Musty Smell from Your Carpet?

1. Freshen with Baking Soda

The baking soda that you can find in your kitchen is a natural odour neutraliser. It is both safe for you and your pets and it does not damage your carpet flooring as well. It only gets rid of the musty smell of your carpet. Below are the steps on how you can freshen your carpet with baking soda.

  • Make a mixture of baking soda and water.
  • Let the mixture sit overnight so it would intensify further.
  • After a day, sprinkle the mixture on the entire carpet.
  • Ten to fifteen minutes later, you will notice the smell starts to subside.

2. Deodorise with Vinegar

White vinegar is another thing that you can find in your kitchen that disinfects the stretch of your carpet. You can start this carpet cleaning method by mixing a cup of white vinegar and two cups of warm water. Once done, pour it into a spray bottle and sprinkle a few after vacuuming your carpet. At first, it might leave a pungent smell, but it will eventually go away a few minutes later, leaving you with a fresh and clean scent.

3. Scrub with Lemon & Water Mixture

Ditto if you were to scrub it with lemon and water mixture. When that happens, your carpet a fresh citrusy fragrance that will leave you in awe. However, remember to dry your carpet with a clean cloth or a steam vacuum after letting the mixture sit in for five minutes.

4. Use Ammonia

If your carpet happens to have a smokey trail, then leaving a bowl of ammonia besides your carpet would help get rid of that char smell. So, if you were to do this, be careful not to drop any ammonia on the floor and leave the bowl undisturbed for a day.

5. Rub Some Foam Carpet Shampoo

If making a mixture is too tiring for you, you can try using a foam carpet shampoo. This cleaning product can help to wash off the stinky smell of your carpet flooring. All you need to do is apply some on the sponge and gently rub it into the fabric of your carpet. Once done, let it dry and vacuum your carpet again.
